If you’re thinking about starting or growing your family, Essential Fertility® is here to support you on your fertility journey. We understand the significance of this decision, and our team is here to guide you with expert care and support every step of the way.
In this blog, we'll explore how to get started on the Essential Fertility pathway, including how we assess whether patients meet the eligibility criteria for treatment. We'll explain how meeting the criteria helps us keep treatment costs low and safe, and how our experienced and friendly team is here to provide excellent patient care as you navigate treatment.
The first stage of your fertility journey is to check that you meet the age requirement, Body Mass Index (BMI), and Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) levels to determine your ovarian reserve (also known as how many eggs you have).
If you’re unsure about your BMI or AMH levels, don’t worry, we can arrange the necessary tests and scans for you, or for both you and your partner. These initial tests can be carried out at a local centre near you, making it easier to take that first step on your journey.
Understanding our Eligibility Criteria
At Essential Fertility, we provide affordable IVF, ICSI and egg freezing. To be considered for treatment, we ask that patients meet our eligibility criteria mentioned above, which have been put in place to make sure patients have the best chance of success.
Finally, although more affordable, we still want patients to have the best possible care, that’s why our nurse-led service is overseen by our experienced fertility doctors.
So, what's the criteria for each treatment?
| Essential IVF & ICSI | Essential Egg Freezing |
|---|---|
| Age: 37 years or under | Age: 35 years or under |
| BMI: Between 18 and 32 | BMI: Between 18 and 32 |
| AMH: Above 10 | AMH: Above 10 |
Your BMI is crucial to fertility health. Essential Fertility's respectful approach ensures that discussions about weight are handled with sensitivity and empathy. If your BMI falls outside the recommended range for optimal fertility, our experienced team is here to discuss your options.
AMH Levels and Age
If it is your first time exploring fertility testing or treatment, the term AMH may be new to you, but don't worry, it’s a simple blood test which will determine your ovarian reserve.
Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) levels and age are critical factors in understanding fertility potential because, as women age, their ovarian reserve naturally decreases, and fertility declines. This is why age is considered for Essential treatments.
Understanding ovarian reserve is crucial for our doctors when advising treatment options and determining a woman's likely response to fertility treatments such as Essential IVF or ICSI.
Experienced and Friendly Team
Once you have undergone your fertility tests, one of our experienced senior fertility nurses will invite you for a consultation. During this session, they will review all prior medical records, the results of any previous fertility treatment, and the results of your fertility assessment. If all is well, the nurse will give their approval for your treatment and discuss the next stages.
Embarking on a fertility journey can be daunting, but at Essential Fertility, you are not alone. Along the journey, you will meet many members of our team, from our caring nursing teams to our expert doctors, specialist embryologists, trusted anaesthetists, and compassionate fertility midwives - we have one of the most experienced fertility teams in the UK.
Plus, our patient app, Ameyla, ensures that you are well-informed throughout your fertility journey. We value transparency, making Essential Fertility a place where you can trust the process and feel confident in the care you receive.
