Fertility Testing
Complete & Affordable Fertility Testing
If you're considering Essential Fertility for treatment, you may be required to have some tests and scans to see if you're eligable for your chosen treatment. The tests and scans we offer are to assess fertility health and will help us better advise you on the right treatment for you.
We have over 20 locations in the UK where patients can undergo fertility testing for Essential IVF, ICSI and egg freezing.
Essential Fertility tests and scans are not part of the package price. For more information about costs, please visit our pricing page.

- Sperm shape: We check sperm shape (morphology) to see if it will break through the egg for fertilisation.
- Sperm movement: We check how well your sperm moves (motility) and how many are alive.
- Sperm count: We measure the number of sperm in your sample to check if it is within normal levels.
- Volume and pH: We check if your semen volume and sperm pH are within normal levels.
Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) Blood Test
To go forward with Essential treatments, we need to know your ovarian reserve, which we do via a test to measure the level of Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH) in your blood. AMH is a substance produced by the cells in the ovaries that surround the developing eggs.
Ovarian reserve testing indicates the number of eggs remaining in your ovaries – known as your ovarian reserve.
If you don’t know your AMH but are interested in Essential IVF treatments, we can make an appointment for you to have this test.
Is this test necessary for Essential Fertility?
We need to know your AMH to see if you meet the criteria for Essential Fertility treatment. If you recently had the test at another clinic or via an accredited laboratory, we will review the results if you can provide a copy.
Transvaginal Ultrasound Scan
We perform a transvaginal ultrasound scan of your womb and ovaries, including 3D imaging, to check for anything that could affect conception and embryo implantation. The internal scan gives us highly detailed information about your reproductive health.
As part of your transvaginal scan, we will check your antral follicle count, which, like your AMH, is an indicator of your ovarian reserve.
Is this test necessary for Essential Fertility?
Yes. You will need a scan to assess your ovaries, uterus and to obtain an antral follicle count before you are able to proceed with Essential treatment.
Semen Analysis
Overview
For male partners, we carry out a semen analysis. This analysis will check several criteria and assess your ability to conceive.
Is this test necessary for Essential Fertility?
Yes, but if you recently had the test at another clinic or via an accredited laboratory, we will review the results if you can provide a copy.
