If you are looking for affordable IVF treatment, you may be wondering where to start your journey. It is natural to have questions about how much your treatment will cost or how long you will have to wait to begin the process.
Here at Essential Fertility®, we understand that fertility treatments are essential to our patients. We have developed our Essential IVF® treatment package so more people can access the treatment they need with no waitlist for treatment at a reasonable, all-inclusive package cost.
So, if you're wondering what's involved in Essential IVF, here's what to expect when you start your Essential IVF journey.
1. Check your eligibility
The first step to your Essential IVF journey is to check if you are eligible for treatment. You can do this via our website or by calling our New Patient Coordinator team. If you are the patient undergoing treatment, we will need to know your age, BMI, and ovarian reserve.
If you do not know your BMI, you can calculate it via our online BMI checker. And, if you don't know your ovarian reserve, we can arrange for you to have this test, commonly known as an Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) blood test. You will also need a transvaginal scan.
2. Consultation with a Senior Fertility Nurse
Once you have spoken to a New Patient Co-ordinator, we can arrange an assessment with a senior fertility nurse. Your dedicated senior fertility nurse will take a full medical history, discuss the results of your tests and plan your IVF cycle for the best chance of success.
3. Ovarian stimulation
Once you are ready for treatment, the first stage of IVF is ovarian stimulation. This involves using tailored doses of fertility drugs to help you produce mature eggs.
4. Egg maturation
A 'trigger' injection of fertility medications will be administered to assist with the final maturation of eggs, which loosens the eggs from the follicle walls.
5. Egg collection
Egg collection takes place in our clinic theatre under ultrasound guidance. Before your egg collection, we provide you with a sedative.
6. Insemination of Eggs
Your partner's (or donor) sperm sample is washed, prepared, and added to the eggs in a petri dish in our state-of-the-art laboratory.
7. Fertilisation
We monitor your eggs for signs of fertilisation. This usually occurs 16-18 hours after insemination.
8. Embryo Culture
The created embryos are placed in an incubator, where they grow in the lab for the next two to five days. Our embryologists keep you updated on the process of your embryos and advise when your embryo transfer will occur.
9. Embryo Transfer
Our embryologists will select an embryo, which is transferred under ultrasound guidance into your uterus by our fertility consultants. Embryo replacement will take place in our specially-designed transfer room.
10. Vitrification
Any remaining good-quality embryos that are not transferred are frozen and stored. Frozen embryos can be used in subsequent cycles if the first cycle is unsuccessful or for a sibling pregnancy.
11. Pregnancy Test
You can take a home pregnancy test around two weeks after your embryo transfer. During this time, you will be supported by our clinic midwife. If your test is positive, you will be booked for your early pregnancy scan about three weeks later.
What is included in the Essential IVF package?
We are confident that we have developed one of the UK's most comprehensive and affordable IVF packages and offer patients a low-cost IVF treatment for £2950. It provides everything you will need for a single IVF cycle to give you the best chance of success.
Our affordable IVF package includes the very best patient support, and our expert nurse-led team will be on hand to provide compassionate support throughout your treatment with us.
Even low-cost fertility treatments can vary in price. Prices rarely include additional expenses like consultations, screening tests or monitoring scans, so it’s best to check or you could encounter some surprise costs later down the line. So, make sure you compare clinics and understand what you get in the package price and what is additional.
