Picking our clinic was one of the most difficult decisions we made. We reviewed the feedback, spoke to anyone who could share their experiences, scoured the internet, and had consultations with those offering a free breakdown of their services.
We found out about Essential through Manchester Fertility directly after having a consultation. The person who booked us in explained that we may be eligible for Essential Fertility, a nurse-led treatment plan overseen by a consultant. We were both chuffed we hit the criteria for Essential treatment! - not only for Amy’s overall health but also for our bank balances. The cost is significantly lower than standard IVF. It includes all medication, a frozen embryo transfer (FET), and storage for one year, which was an opportunity we couldn’t turn down!
We had IVF with ICSI and were incredibly lucky to be successful on our first cycle of IVF, this was on my (Amy’s) natural cycle with frozen embryo transfer, after we took a short gap following my egg collection.
We found the clinic’s facilities perfect, it is super close to so many travel links which made it really easy for us to get to, whether that be from our home or our work which we found really helpful! The clinic itself always had such a lovely atmosphere and everyone really made you feel comfortable from the minute you walked in. Every single person we had the pleasure of meeting throughout really made an impact on our fertility journey, no question was too big, and they really did all they could to calm our nerves and ensure we both felt comfortable.
For those starting their journey and feeling a bit anxious, we highly recommend reaching out to them. From start to finish, they’ve been incredible.
As a same-sex couple who wanted to start a family, we never thought we’d have the opportunity to become mums but here we are with our baby boy and we are still wondering how we got so lucky.
